2010 Programme

January 21st - ‘Holding On’ with Jo Gambi
Jo will tell the story of how she and her husband, Rob held on to each other and God as they went from dealing with cancer to climbing the Seven Summits, skiing to the Poles and setting world records. Jo will share the ‘revelations from the edge’ with some of the life changing lessons God has used the mountains to teach her and how these can dramatically change our experience of life. Using her climbing experiences, Jo will look at how we can climb our personal mountains, overcome adversity and follow our dreams.
Jo Gambi – born in 1969, grew up in Penn, Buckinghamshire. After University, she went on to work in buying for M&S and later she went on to train as a physiotherapist and worked in the NHS as well as for the London Welsh Rugby Club. In 2005 she entered the Guinness World Records for the fastest female ascent of the Seven Summits – the highest mountain on each continent; a record she still holds. She has since written a book about her and her husband’s story, called Holding On.

February 18th - ‘Fear or Freedom’ with Julie Sheldon
‘Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe’ Proverbs 29:25. How can we break the fear and be free to move on in life? This is a question that is often asked. We trust that in this day of healing, through prayer and Christ’s love, we will find the answer and release.
Julie is an inspirational speaker. Having had her career as a professional ballet dancer cut short after a back fracture, a dramatic healing from Dystonia in 1989 and five years later responding to the news that her younger daughter had developed a malignant brain tumour, she is able to bring her very real faith right into life’s situations.

March 18th - ‘Beliefs that bind’ with Florence Joseph
The subject of the message is deliverance. Florence writes, there are godly beliefs, and ungodly beliefs. Ungodly beliefs are often inherited or passed down by tradition; they can bind us in ways that make God’s liberating truth hard to penetrate and hinder consistent fruitfulness in our lives. We will explore, confront and explode some myths about God and ourselves, and allow the Lord Jesus to set us free in key areas. Expect to see life change!
Florence has a mission-shaped heart and a passion to reach people for Jesus in her sphere of influence. That call has taken her across nations to equip and train God’s people for ministry and to hurting individuals in a pastoral, practical and professional capacity bringing them the love of God. She exercises an itinerant teaching ministry and currently works full-time in health and social care.

April 22nd - ‘Forget the Frills-what lies at the heart of it all?’ with Ruth Calver
Jesus said our faith boils down to this- to love the Lord our God with everything we have and to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. Jesus said it was the most important issue on earth. We know these truths so well but do we live them? How can we truly love our neighbours when we struggle to love ourselves? Do we long for God to move in our lifetime in ways we have never seen before? Maybe he’s just waiting for a people to be utterly sold out to him.
Ruth and her husband Clive lived in the UK until God dramatically called them to serve in the USA, where for 8 years they served with World Relief. They have four children who are all in Christian ministry – the boys here and the girls in the USA. Today Ruth is Pastor of Women at Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, Connecticut. Her husband is the senior pastor. This is not mega church land but very similar to the UK. God has blessed them in wonderful ways and they have seen the church grow to just over 2000 people from the 1280 when they arrived there in 2005.

May 27th - ‘Let’s go for it’ with Jen Larcombe
As a writer I obviously love watching people, and all the changing scenes of life through which we all have to walk fascinate me. It is not always the big major traumas and grief’s that pull us off the path which leads to intimacy with God; it is the easy, comfortable times when we step off the ‘path’ to take a break in the shade. Sadly so many of us never get up and walk on. ‘Keeping on keeping on’ with God can be a massive challenge and today is all about ‘restoring our first love,’ or finding a level of intimacy with Him that we have never experienced before – so we finish well!
Jen’s popularity as author and speaker comes through her honesty, her warmth and compassion. She has the ability to laugh and cry with us as she ‘tells it as it is.’

June 24th - ‘Is Isaiah relevant to me as today’s woman’ with Helen Cooke
The amazing book of Isaiah contains an exciting overview of God’s ways and plans for His people and the planet. In 2010 we are living at a crucial time in our world’s history. All of us are caught up on what is happening on a global scale and Christian faith is constantly being knocked.
On this day we will discover how God acted, acts and will act through the pages of Isaiah – condensed version!
For many years I have been teaching the Bible to women in Britain and overseas. My longing is to excite women with God’s plans, which bring hope and a vision of heaven. I am involved with the Keswick Convention, married to Nigel, with 3 married daughters and four grandchildren. I am concerned for working women and the balance of work, marriage and family and holding on to Christian faith in tough situations.

July 22nd - ‘Colliding with your destiny’ with Brenda Taylor
Each of us has a unique call from the Lord and we need to recognize and tap into the creative flow of our individual anointing. Starting with Jesus who was anointed to…. we will explore the Redemptive gifts to see how our dreams of living and serving in our anointing can become a reality.
Brenda is a powerful speaker and worship leader. She has been a missionary to Spain for 7 years and is involved in mission projects in many countries throughout the world to bless and encourage the poor. Brenda writes music and carries a heart for revival in the U.K. She will be leading the worship on the day..

September 23rd - ‘Decluttering our lives and living more simply’ with Fiona Castle
This is a day of discovering our worth and our gifts. Fiona writes, ‘It is so easy to accumulate possessions and souvenirs and very often difficult to spring clean and get rid of what we really know we will never use again!
Hopefully this day will be an opportunity to have a spring clean and move forward with enthusiasm to the opportunities God has for us, so that we can make the most of every day.
Fiona was born in the Wirral in 1940 and at the age of 9 went to a boarding school in Surrey to study ballet and theatre arts. She worked in the theatre from 1956 as a dancer and singer and was introduced to her husband by mutual friend Eric Morecambe and she married in 1963. They were married for 31 years before Roy died of lung cancer in 1994. They have 4 children.
Fiona has written 12 books including autobiographies, and 5 anthologies of poems and prose. She had a regular daily slot on Premier Christian radio for 5 years.

October 21st- ‘The Glorious Joy of Receiving from the Father’ with Fiona Jones
The subject of Fiona’s talk is ‘learning to receive answers to prayer in every area of our lives.’
She writes, ‘many Christians are devoted to God, and are serving the Lord-but feel frustrated that many of their prayers seem to go unanswered. Fiona looks at the reasons Christians fail to receive, and uncovers the exciting keys to becoming better receivers of all that the Father wants to give us. When we become receivers, our Heavenly Father is glorified and our joy is made full.’
Fiona spent many years working as an actor and singer in the theatre, mainly in the West End of London. In 1984 her life was radically changed through an invitation from Cliff Richard to hear the gospel. This led to a call to full-time ministry alongside her husband - musician and broadcaster, Paul Jones. Before Fiona became a Christian she battled with painful rejection by her father and now shares, how through these struggles the Lord led her to know the Father’s love.

November 18th - ‘Women loved and designed by God’ with Ann Coles
Ann speaks to encourage women to see themselves as a precious, loved and dynamic part of God’s Kingdom. She writes: God has designed us as women with love and with precision. We are not an after thought or a second thought but designed for favour, friendship and fruitfulness. As we discover the truth of this from the Bible we want to let the Holy Spirit release the reality of it in our lives.
Ann is on the leadership team of New Wine overseeing all the conferences for women. She is also on the pastoral staff of St Barnabas, Woodside Park, and the church that Ann and her husband, John developed to be the multi cultural and all-age community it is today. Ann always brings us something new and precious and up to date to challenge us and help us be the women God intended us to be.

December 16th - ‘Immanuel – God with Us’ with the Mulberry Pastoral Team
What’s in a name? Immanuel is but one name given to Jesus but there are many more that serve as a description of who Jesus is and how He works in the lives of individuals. This is a day to unwrap God’s gift, to discover just how much God gave us when Jesus came. Before we are caught up in the busyness of the Christmas season, how precious are the quiet moments of reflection around the crib, when we can centre our thoughts on Jesus, Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
As a team it is our joy to serve the Lord in Pastoral ministry at Mulberry. We are all listeners on the Prayer line for the Nationwide Christian Trust and are actively involved in many of the pastoral events that take place here throughout the year, including Ladies Day. We count it a great privilege to have this opportunity to share with you the joy of Christmas.
