Understanding and Overcoming Eating Disorders
April 16th - 18th with Dr Rosie Helyar
A weekend offering insight and hope to those suffering with eating disorders, their families and their carers.
With her in depth knowledge of this complex subject, and years of experience providing counselling and support, Rosie, in an insightful and sensitive way, will:
• outline tools for recovery.
• assist sufferers to uncover the role that the eating disorder plays in their individual life
• explore healthy alternative ways of coping.
There will be a clear Christian basis to the weekend, however both Christians and non-Christians can attend and will gain a great deal from it.
The weekend will work on the premise that we are physical, emotional and spiritual beings, and that healing and restoration can be achieved in all three areas.
Each day will include times of interactive teaching, opportunities to talk on a one to one basis, group discussion, times of reflection and personal space. And for anyone wanting to be prayed for, this will also be available throughout the weekend.
Rosie is a therapist with a clinical practice in North Wiltshire and Bristol since 1997 and is an accredited member of the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP).
In 2002, she gained a diploma in Counselling for Eating Disorders from the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED), and has recently completed further training through Oxford University in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Eating Disorders. Her doctorate is in psychotherapy (Middlesex University and the Metanoia Institute, London) and she also has a Master’s degree in Counselling Studies from Bristol University.
