• March 16 - The Mediterranean Coast
Along the coast lies a succession of important biblical towns: Joppa, Caesarea and Akko. Important Bible characters like Jonah, Philip the Evangelist, Peter and Paul will feature in this seminar.
• March 23 - Mount Carmel and the Jezreel Valley
From the summit of Mount Carmel and the adventures of Elijah we shall go to Megiddo to explore the chariot city of Solomon and Ahab. The Jezreel Valley (or Armageddon) has been the scene of conflict through the ages... and will be again. Mount Tabor will remind us of great battles and Mount Moreh will tell of mighty miracles at Shunem and Nain!
• March 30 - The road from Nazareth to the Sea of Galilee
Nazareth, the scene of Jesus’ childhood and early manhood, provides an opportunity to take a look at farming and the world of work in His day. A glimpse of Cana of Galilee will give us a chance to consider Hebrew marriage before we plunge down through the Valley of Doves, the ancient road to the Sea of Galilee.
• June 15 - Around the Sea of Galilee
Visiting Magdala, Capernaum and Bethsaida carries us into the real world of the New Testament. Here we are provided with wonderful insights into the life of the fishermen and the ministry of Jesus.
• June 22 - The ministry of Jesus around the Lake
Just above Capernaum is the natural theatre where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount and close by the probable site for the feeding of the multitude. We shall explore Tiberias and Gergesa, the place where Legion was delivered from demonisation.
• June 29 - The Golan Heights
Jesus is revealed in many Old Testament characters and even certain animals and items. In what way?
• September 21 - The Valley Road to Jerusalem
Southwards along the Jordan River we visit Beth Shean, the Roman city spectacularly restored to something of its original splendour. We shall explore the two biblical cities of Jericho and then have a wonderful time in Bethlehem and the Shepherd Fields.
• September 28 - Jerusalem!
On Mount Zion are located the Upper Room and the Essene Guest House. We then visit the Cardo and ancient markets of the Old City. The remains of priestly homes burned in the AD70 destruction provide fascinating glimpses into the religious world of the 1st Century. As do the excavations at the southern wall of Herod’s Temple Mount, where Jesus taught the disciples and where Peter and John healed the lame man.
• October 5 - Jerusalem!
A day at the Temple of Herod the Great: on it, in it and under it! Then to the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the lame man.
• November 16 - Jerusalem!
Beginning on the Mount of Olives we visit the Garden of Gethsemane before crossing the Kidron Valley to visit the House of Caiaphas. Then to the Antonia Fortress, where Pilate condemned Jesus. Finally we explore the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Garden Tomb, probable place of Jesus’ resurrection.
• November 23 - The Dead Sea
We cross the Judean Wilderness and descend to the lowest spot on Earth. We visit Qumran, monastery of the Essenes and depository for the Dead Sea Scrolls. On to En Gedi, location of David’s hide-out from King Saul. Then to Massada, the immense rock fortress where the Zealots defied the Roman Legions at the time of the Jewish Revolt.
• November 30 - The Southern Desert
On our scenic journey we shall see the marvels of the Small Crater before exploring David Ben Gurion’s desert home. Then to the Nabatean city of Avedat and the immense Ramon Crater. We shall go to the Timna Valley to see remains of Egyptian copper mines, later used by King Solomon.
